Lifestyle Alterations for Peripheral Arterial Disease

The Grenon lab conducts basic science investigations and clinical studies on the effect of lifestyle changes and physical inactivity in patients with cardiovascular diseases and peripheral arterial disease (PAD). For example, the lab investigates the effects of omega-3 fatty acids on inflammation and endothelial function in patients with PAD.

We also examine parallels between the physical deconditioning in astronauts during spaceflight with those average people who do not exercise. We are interested in determining how factors in everyday life can impact the development of lower atherosclerotic disease and cardiovascular diseases, and we hope to target specific therapies or programs to help with these diseases.
